Scan|Design Foundation Fellowship Exchange Programs

University of Wisconsin - Madison

The Scan|Design Foundation Fellowship Program at the University of Wisconsin - Madison was established in 2009 and the first Fellowship awards were given in 2010 to University of Wisconsin students for study in Denmark during the 2010 Spring Semester. Fellowships are meant to provide students from all academic fields of study with an opportunity to spend a full academic semester or year in Denmark.  Formal exchange agreements are in place between the University of Wisconsin and the following Danish Institutions:

Additional institutions and programs will be added as the Fellowship program develops.

The Fellowships are awarded to both Graduate and undergraduate students for study in Denmark.  Fellowships are available for either one semester or the academic year.

Fellowships are also awarded to both Graduate and undergraduate students from Denmark for study at the University of Wisconsin.  The first Fellowship awards will be given in 2010 for study in the US during the 2010-2011 academic year.

Many of the Danish Universities provide free pre-semester Danish Language and Scandinavian Culture Classes for International Students.  The Foundation provides a stipend for all Fellowship recipients that choose to participate in these classes.

As part of the Fellowship program, the Foundation also provides an excursion budget and on-site coordinators in both Copenhagen and Madison to organize and lead several student directed cultural and experiential outings in the host country. The Foundation believes that the exchange experience is greatly enhanced by the ability to explore the host country and form friendships with host University students.  Beginning with the 2011-2012 academic year Fellowship Alumni will be included in hosting visiting students.
